Concordia Membership
Concordia Membership
Concordia has developed a membership scheme to benefit students and other participants through Concordia. Applicants become members of Concordia for one year from the beginning of their placement. Membership brings a range of benefits listed below.
A key element of the membership is the Travel Pack. We are keen that our participants have as smooth arrival as possible and the pack is aimed at improving their experience and enabling to make the transition from the home country to life in the UK as smooth as possible.
Concordia membership brings a range of benefits to its members (programme participants):
- Concordia Travel Pack:
- An O2 Your country SIM card for mobile phones. The card allows members a free international call allowance for one month after the phone is topped up: £10 top up = 50 mins international calls for one month. £15 = 100 mins international calls for one month. £30= 200 mins international calls for one month. Important - Students should make sure there phone is unlocked before they come as it is cheaper outside the UK and that they top up when they get to the airport if possible.
- A Touchdown international phone card - this has £5 of credit already on it and can be used as soon as they arrive if they need to phone home. This can be used on public phones as well as mobiles.
- A detailed map of the UK. It shows the counties and most towns.
- An AC travel adaptor so that students can use their own electrical appliances (phone chargers, etc) in the UK. Students should write their name on their adaptor before they arrive. (In the past there have been fires caused because students have not used adaptors and have tampered with sockets. This should prevent this.)
- A map of London and the underground.
- A mini guide to life in the UK.
- One years travel insurance through NFU National Farmers Union). Many farms now extend beyond 6 months and this will mean that students have continuous cover for the full duration of the placements and if they return home they will remain covered.
- Phone support Concordia has an office team to support members if problems arise when they are in the UK. This may includes help on questions about their employment, questions about pay, tax enquiries etc. There is access to a telephone translation service for situations where a members language skills require this for communications with Concordia.
- Free transfer when placement is completed satisfactorily. (In the past years there has been an administration charge of £32.50)
- Placement on a Concordia farm with placements that have been audited by our field officers.
- There is no fee for a second placement if a participant returns within a year and the second placement does not extend beyond 12 months after the beginning of the first year.
- Concordia membership newsletter by e-mail 3 times a year.
- Support with claims on Concordia insurance.
- Access to the Concordia student extranet to include useful resources.
